I am eight years sober from an addiction that nearly killed me. I am the OG-She who rose from the ashes of my own destruction, and for the rest of my life, I help others rise. Proving them all wrong with every achievement. You should hang around so we can really show them what we can do!
“Energy and persistence conquer all things.”
– Benjamin Franklin
In a world where everything is energy, mastering personal energy management becomes the key to thriving amidst daily challenges. Our energy levels are the driving force behind our actions, decisions, and overall sense of well-being. Yet, many of us find ourselves feeling drained, exhausted, or overwhelmed, often due to factors we might not even recognize.
As an empath, I have found that I rarely want to leave my house lately. I have seriously downsized my social interactions, and I have no friends anymore because I am constantly getting sucked dry because of my lack of boundaries when it involves helping people. My guess is that since COVID many of you are feeling the same way. Anyone?
Understanding Personal Energy as a Finite Resource
Energy is a finite resource. Just as time management helps us allocate our hours effectively, personal energy management requires a conscious awareness of how we use and replenish our energy. There are various types of personal energy—physical, mental, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual energy—all of which play a crucial role in our daily lives.
Human beings are designed for balance, but in our busy lives, we often sacrifice much-needed recovery time to complete our endless to-do lists. I do this all the time, and this imbalance can lead to signs of burnout, such as emotional exhaustion, decreased cognitive function, and diminished physical health. Does knowing all of this slow me down? No, but I am working on it. We can be accountability partners, and work together to get better. Be better.
The Power of Full Engagement: Balancing Energy Types
The concept of “The Power of Full Engagement,” as highlighted by Tony Schwartz and Jim Loehr, emphasizes managing energy rather than time. High performance is less about how much time we spend on tasks and more about how we manage our energy during a given day.
To sustain high energy levels, we need to cultivate energy from various sources—such as positive emotions, good sleep, healthy eating, regular physical activity, and mindful moments.
Our daily routine should include small tweaks that encourage a harmonious flow of energy. These can range from incorporating green spaces and social interactions into our schedules to ensuring we get enough sleep to recharge our physical energy.

“First comes thought; then organization of that thought, into ideas and plans; then transformation of those plans into reality. The beginning, as you will observe, is in your imagination.”
-Napoleon Hill
Imagination is the starting point for all creation. It’s where our thoughts begin to take shape, forming the foundation for ideas and plans. As we organize these ideas, they evolve into clear, actionable steps.
The true magic happens when we take those steps and turn our vision into reality. This process highlights the power of our inner world—where what begins as a mere thought can transform into something tangible and impactful.
It all starts with the ability to imagine and then methodically bring that imagination to life.
Defeating Energy Vampires: Protecting Your Energy Resources
Energy vampires, both in our personal lives and work life, drain our energy through negative thoughts, emotional energy-depleting behaviors, and constant distractions like social media or unnecessary phone calls. Defending your energy field starts with recognizing these drains and finding the best way to limit their impact.
After reading this, you will start to see the negative patterns that others perpetuate in your life that have nothing to do with you. If you’re like me and you’re a people pleaser, you will start seeing just how much you can be affected by just one act of intended negativity. This is why I have no issues with having no friends because I attract the wrong kind.
Visualization techniques, such as grounding exercises and imagining a protective bubble, can help shield your energy. Practices like cognitive behavioral therapy, meditation, a gratitude practice, and self-care rituals also provide a solid foundation for maintaining a high energy level and protecting your emotional well-being.
If you are like me and suffer from Aphantasia (blind mind’s eye) and ADHD, don’t worry because I gotchu. I do what I call Narrative Techniques, which are basically the same as visualization techniques, except we use the only thing we can: words, descriptions, and narratives. Let me know if this is something you would be interested in reading about and I will get it done.
Building a Strong Foundation for Your Personal Energy Management
Building resilience is an important task in personal energy management. Your biggest takeaway here is that managing your energy resources is a lifelong practice, not a one-time effort. Creating a daily work schedule that aligns with your natural energy rhythms, such as ultradian rhythms, can lead to better work-life balance and sustainable high performance.
Embrace your authentic self by focusing on activities that promote positive energy and align with your personal goals. Energy is not just a renewable resource; it’s the biggest lever for creating the life you desire. Cultivating emotional, mental, and spiritual energy through inner work, intellectual pursuits, and encouraging others fosters a deeper level of connection with your own energy.
Energy cannot be created nor can it be destroyed. It can be transformed or transferred. This is the law of conservation of energy, which states that the total amount of energy in the Universe is constant.
Implementing Best Practices for Optimal Energy
To achieve your best performance, start by assessing your daily routine. Are you giving yourself enough time for quality sleep, healthy habits, and social connections?
Are you dividing tasks effectively, giving your best work to your most important tasks during your peak energy times? How much time are you spending on activities that deplete your energy versus those that renew it?
Remember that personal energy management is not just about eliminating negative emotions but also about fostering positive psychology through habits that promote emotional well-being. Recognize that your energy levels fluctuate, and it’s okay to have less energy at times. Use those moments for personal renewal, whether through quiet reflection or engaging in activities that bring you joy.
Harnessing the Power of Everything Is Energy
Everything is energy. The key is in how you manage and direct that energy. By aligning with the principle that where focus goes, energy flows, you can become more conscious of how you invest your time and energy. This alignment helps you tap into your own energy reserves more effectively, making you more resilient to challenges, more engaged in your daily work, and more fulfilled in your personal life.
Final Thoughts: Creating a Life of High Energy and BalanceCultivating Spiritual Enlightenment
In conclusion, my biggest take away for you is that we need to learn to be more conscious of the energy we are putting out because it has a way of coming back to us.
Mastering personal energy management is about recognizing that every moment is an opportunity to choose how we use our energy. By understanding the different types of energy, implementing best practices, and remaining mindful of our energy sources, we can transform our lives. We all have the power to cultivate our energy and achieve a more balanced, vibrant, and meaningful existence.
Remember, you hold the power to shape your energy and create the life you desire. Your energy is your most valuable asset—manage it wisely, and watch how it transforms your world.
